Welcome to my kitchen!
I’m so glad you found your way here!
Hi! I’m Sarah, mom of three toddlers and wife to a Brazilian food fanatic.
I’ve been cooking family meals for over 20 years and love to fill hungry bellies with healthy (and yummy) food. From the classic chocolate chip cookie to lentil stews to whole chickens, I have been whipping up recipes since I was 8 years old, and my culinary experiences have brought so much joy to my life.
It’s here in The Santos Cookbook that I hope that joy spills over into your own home and kitchen.
A Note About What You Will Find Here
My kitchen is full of international flavors.
I spent some of my childhood overseas in Asia, and now my Brazilian husband and I have returned to Asia with our children.
On any given day, you might be greeted with the smell of curry or garam masala or cilantro or Chinese five spice when you step through our front door. And–more often than not–you will find our table filled with foods that remind us of our “homes” around the world.
Another thing you will also find? My three toddlers covered in flour (or cookie dough…or curry…) as they help me. Cooking is truly a family project around here! We recognize the unity that both working together to prepare food and gathering around the table to share a family meal nurture in our hearts.
And that’s why I’m so glad you’re here to join us. 🙂 Welcome to our kitchen, our table, and our hearts!
A Few Fun Facts About Me
Some of my first culinary experiences involved good-old Amish country whoopee pies.
I am the fifth of eleven children–five girls and six boys…and that wasn’t counting the sheep on our small Hoosier farm.
I have lived in four different countries in the past ten years, and my eldest child boarded more than 20 airplanes before he turned two-and-a-half.
My favorite food? Ice cream…though I consider it more of a food group. 😉
Music is my comfort food. I begged my parents to buy a violin for me when I was three years old, finally got one when I was six, and have been playing for going on twenty-something years now.
